<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intra-suction passage fuel injection engine that can suppress blowing-through of a mixture gas in the event of a valve overlap while a swirl in a combustion chamber is secured. <P>SOLUTION: The intra-suction passage fuel injection engine including a fuel injection valve 12 to jet the fuel to an aperture of a suction valve 3 is configured so that the aperture of a suction port 8 opened and closed by the suction valve 3 opens toward a position which is offset outward in the radial direction of the cylinder 2 from the center of the combustion chamber 7, while the aperture of an exhaust port 9 opened and closed by an exhaust valve 4 opens toward the position which is offset outward in the radial direction of the cylinder 2 from the center of the combustion chamber 7, and arranged offset in the radial direction of the cylinder 2 from the extension line in the opening direction of the suction port 8, and that a shroud 15 protruding into the combustion chamber 7 is provided at the edge of the aperture of the exhaust port 9 opened and closed by the exhaust valve 4.
