PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a DC power supply device that can detect a failure state of switching means, in a DC power supply device that can supply to a load a DC voltage up to about four times as large as a peak value of an AC voltage supplied from an AC power supply.

SOLUTION: The DC power supply device has: first and second capacitors 4a and 4b connected in series between output ends of a rectification circuit 3; third and fourth capacitors 6a and 6b connected in series between the output ends of the rectification circuit 3 via counter flow blocking means 5a and 5b respectively; first switching means 10 provided between a connection point of the first and second capacitors 4a and 4b and one AC input end of the rectification circuit 3; second switching means 20 provided between a connection point of the third and fourth capacitors 6a and 6b and the other AC input end of the rectification circuit 3; and failure determination means 12 determining failure states of the first and second switching means 10 and 20 on the basis of an output voltage of the DC power supply device 100.
