The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating ischaemic heart disease comprising, as an active ingredient, an inhibitor that inhibits AGE-albumin synthesis or secretion in mononuclear phagocyte system cells whereby apoptosis is induced in myocardial cells following the onset of ischaemic heart disease, and the present invention also relates to a screening method for the inhibitor. The pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating ischaemic heart disease of the present invention can be widely used to prevent or treat various forms of ischaemic heart disease and notably myocardial infarction because the pharmaceutical composition comprises, as an active ingredient, an AGE-albumin synthesis or secretion inhibitor for mononuclear phagocyte system cells and the pharmaceutical composition can therefore inhibit or reduce apoptosis induced from AGE-albumin.
