PURPOSE: An apparatus for protecting an electrode tab is provided to prevent excessive tension from being applied to an electrode tab, thereby improving the safety of secondary batteries. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for protecting an electrode tab is made of a conductive material and comprises a tab contact part(100) with which a plurality of electrode tabs(10) installed in an electrode assembly(1) come in contact; a lead part which is made of a conductive material and is extruded from at least a part of the tab contact part; and a protection plate(300) which is extended from the end part of the tab contact part, toward the electrode assembly and protects the electrode tabs. Both ends of the protection plate are inserted into and coupled with the electrode assembly.
