<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that easily removes stains on a charger, and a charging device mounted on such image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: An electrostatic latent image is formed by reception of electric charge and light exposure; a toner image is formed by development of the electrostatic latent image with toner; and the toner image is transferred to a photoreceptor. In a state where the toner image is in contact with the photoreceptor to be transferred to further transfer destination, a potential bias is applied to a contact charging member for charging the photoreceptor by receiving application of a potential bias, and the potential bias applied to the contact charging member is switched to a ground potential after the toner image is transferred from the photoreceptor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
