A stud fastener comprises a shank part 19 and a head part integral therewith the head part comprising two spaced disc-like portions 23, 24 integrally connected to each other by a spacer portion 25 the spaced portions having their axes laterally offset relative to one another to provide an eccentric overlapping relationship therebetween. The fastener is used for connecting a trim panel to a body structure in a motor vehicle, for example, and the body structure is provided with a circular aperture to receive the shank part 19 of the fastener which is provided with an elongated slot 27 which permits the shank to yield sufficiently to make entry of the shank through the aperture possible. The trim panel is provided with a T-shaped slot for receiving the head part with the two portions 23, 24, one on each side of the panel and with the spacer portion 25 in the stem of the slot. The spacer portion is axially offset from the shank part 19 and coaxial with the head portion 24 whereas the head portion 23 is coaxial with the shank part 19. This enables the shank part to be aligned with the aperture in the body structure by rotating the fastener. The fastener may be made of a non-metallic material such as polyethylene. |
