Wheel rotational speed (omega) and/or a value correlated with the wheel rotational speed are determined based on the wheel torque. A phase displacement between the wheel torque and the wheel rotational speed and/or the value are determined and excluded whether an actual friction value (lambda) is larger or smaller than friction value maximum (lambda max).
