<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device and an optical device manufacturing method which make it possible to precisely align an optical fiber relative to a substrate without heating to bond by surface activated bonding, and to maintain the optimum condition for an extended period of time. <P>SOLUTION: There are provided an optical device manufacturing method which includes the steps of forming a first metallic film (12) on a portion of a substrate (10), forming a second metallic film (24) on a portion of the outer circumference of an optical fiber (20), and bonding together the first metallic film and the second metallic film by surface activated bonding, and an optical device (1) manufactured by such a manufacturing method. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
