The present invention provides a catalyst comprising: a platinum group metal, silver or gold, and a carrier containing niobium or tantalum oxide or niobium or tantalum phosphate, and an oxide other than niobium or tantalum oxide, as well as its use in production of hydrogen peroxide. The invention also relates to a process for producing hydrogen peroxide, comprising reacting hydrogen and oxygen in the presence of the catalyst according to the invention in a reactor, and a process for producing the catalyst according the invention.
