Surplus electricity is provided to an electric motor (1) that drives an oil pump (2a) which in turn is fed via pressure line (3) to a hydraulic cylinder (4) that compresses the spring array (5) it's ram (6) acting on a thrust plate (7). The reverse process is initiated when the demand outstrips supply means of two valves (8) which reverses the flow of the hydraulic fluid to power the generator (9) by another pump working in reverse rotation to the first. If the array becomes fully compressed the thrust plate is locked in position and the electricity is cut off until demanded. The valve controlling flow to the pump (2b) will be regulated to control the rate of hydraulic fluid flow given that pressure exerted by the springs will vary with the amount of compression. -- - -- - -f ----- ---- ---- |
