<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and precisely detect errors such as flaws or the like on a resistance heating layer. <P>SOLUTION: A fixing device forms a nip part by pressing a pressure roller against a peripheral surface of a heating belt including a resistance heating layer, and causes a recording sheet having an unfixed image formed thereon to pass through the nip part, and thermally fixes the image. The fixing device is provided with a temperature sensor 50 which measures each temperature of a plurality of areas divided from the outer peripheral surface of the heating belt along a rotation axis direction. A control part acquires in a printing operation a difference between the maximum value and the minimum value of the measured temperatures according to each of the areas based on a temperature distribution in the circumferential direction over the whole outer peripheral surface of the heating belt, and compares differences acquired in a pair of areas (PxA8 and PxB8 or PxA7 and PxB7, etc.) respectively positioned in a paper passing area and a non paper passing area to determine if an error is generated in the resistance heating layer along the circumferential direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
