<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for treating cholesterol disorders. <P>SOLUTION: This invention provides compositions and methods for treating disorders of cholesterol and lipid metabolism by administration of an anti-PCSK9 antibody or a peptide inhibitor of PCSK9. This invention also provides, in part, a pharmaceutical composition including an antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof (e.g., monoclonal antibody, polyclonal antibody or recombinant antibody) or EGF-A polypeptide which binds specifically to PCSK9, which antibody or fragment or polypeptide inhibits binding between PCSK9 and LDL receptor, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier; optionally in association with a further chemotherapeutic agent (e.g., ezetimibe and/or simvastatin). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
