<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-directional slide type electronic component whose outside diameter can be made small and that can be easily assembled. <P>SOLUTION: The multi-direction slide type electronic component comprises: an operation body 10 having an operation body main body 11 provided in second and third cases 60, 40 movably in a face direction; and detection means (first and second slide mobile bodies 100, 80, sliders 110, 90 and slide contact pattern 161) provided in first and second cases 140, 60 and changing a detection output according to a position to which the operation body 10 moves. A first spring housing part 13 is provided on a lower face of the operation body main body 11, and its inner peripheral side face serves as a first spring receiving face 15. A second spring housing part 43 is provided on an inner face of the third case 40 opposed to the first spring housing part 13 of the operation body main body 11, and its inner peripheral side face serves as a second spring receiving face 46.
