The invention addresses the problem of providing a battery in which a short-circuit between a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate is prevented from occurring even if the temperature inside the battery increases. The battery includes a flat wound electrode body formed by winding the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate with a separator interposed therebetween into a flat shape. The separator has an outer edge adjacent portion adjacent to either the outer edge of a positive electrode active material layer or the outer edge of a negative electrode active material layer. In a curve arrangement portion disposed at least at the curved portion of the flat wound electrode body, the outer edge adjacent portion has a suppression portion for suppressing the occurrence or development of a crack.
