PURPOSE: A Ganoderma lucidum-derived novel compound, and an application thereof are provided to suppress tyrosinase activity and melanogenesis, and to be used in a cosmetic product or a pharmaceutical composition. CONSTITUTION: A compound or a salt thereof is denoted by chemical formula 1. The compound suppresses tyrosinase activity. A cosmetic composition for whitening contains the compound denoted by the chemical formula 1 as an active ingredient. A pharmaceutical composition for whitening contains the compound denoted by the chemical formula 1 as an active ingredient.
