<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance measuring apparatus for measuring a distance to an object capable of precisely detecting the distance to the object. <P>SOLUTION: A radar apparatus detects an arithmetic distance and an arithmetic brightness for each segmented area and compares the arithmetic brightness and a brightness threshold which is preset to a brightness at which a reflected light is hardly detected; to thereby extract a high brightness area where the arithmetic brightness is larger than the brightness threshold. A pair of high brightness areas existing in parallel in a horizontal direction in an irradiation area is detected, and a distance to a high brightness object representing the object which forms the pair of high brightness area on the basis of the distance between the pair of high brightness areas is calculated (S510-S550). With this, the distance to an object can be detected even in a high brightness area where the brightness of a reflected laser light is too high to be detected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
