<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method, a system and a computer program for improving compressed image chroma information. <P>SOLUTION: In one aspect of the invention, resolution which is higher than the resolution for a blue color component of a color video image is used for a red color component of the color video image. In another aspect, a lower or higher value of a quantization parameter (QP) as compared with a luminance channel is used for one or more chroma channels. In another aspect, logarithmic representation of the video image is used to benefit from image coding.
