<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized gas discharge tube. <P>SOLUTION: The gas discharge tube includes at least two electrodes (15, 16) and at least one hollow insulator (11) fixed to at least one of the electrodes (15, 16). The insulator (11) has a length expanded as compared with the height thereof, because of a creepage current on at least one surface of the insulator facing inward and/or outward, thus providing a long distance for an arbitrary creepage current. The insulator has a ratio of the total height h and the overall length L smaller than 1:1.3, for the creepage current on at least one of inner and/or outer surface. When w is the width of the insulator defined as the distance between the outer edges of flanges 13 and 14, the ratio of h and w is at least 1:2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
