<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable operation device that directly measures a movement position of an object of movement such as a door, and controls a movement of the object of movement on the basis of the movement position. <P>SOLUTION: Resistance measurement means measures the total value (R1+R2+R3) of a resistance value R1 of a part of a first cable 11 between a first contact point 51 and a connection point 60 where an end of the first cable 11 is connected to an arm 7, a resistance value R2 of a part of a second cable 12 between a second contact point 53 and a connection point 61 where an end of the second cable 12 is connected to the arm 7, and a resistance value R3 between the connection point 60 and connection point 61 of the arm 7. When a sliding door is opened and closed, the first cable 11 and second cable 12 move reciprocally, and the total resistance value of R1, R2, and R3 between the first contact point 51 and second contact point 53 varies.
