<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for the preparation of HT-poly-(3-alkylthiophenes), wherein the method is efficient, and economical, provides greater manufacturing flexibility, and is suited for use in large scale industrial processes. <P>SOLUTION: A method of producing a polymer includes: combining a soluble thiophene having at least two leaving groups with an organomagnesium reagent to form a regiochemical isomer intermediate; and adding thereto an effective amount of Ni(II) catalyst to initiate a polymerization reaction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
