The battery has a surge arrester (102) that is in electrical contact with prismatic battery cell (100) and heat sink. The surge arrester made of thermally conductive plate material is provided with a heat transfer surface. The thermal energy is transmitted between the heat transfer surface and the battery cell. The heat sink is connected with heat transfer surface of surge arrester using electrically insulating and thermally conductive adhesive film. An independent claim is included for method for manufacturing battery.
