<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type video display device capable of improving convenience to a user without regard to residual quantity of a battery incorporated in active shutter spectacles. <P>SOLUTION: A projection type video display device 100 includes an enclosure 200 that houses a DMD that modulates light emitted from a light source and a projection unit that projects the light modulated by the DMD onto a projection surface. On a back surface 220 of the enclosure 200, an external power source port 221 for supplying electric power from an external power source 400 to the projection type video display device 100 is provided.
