According to this navigation device or method, only route guidance expressions given to a driver by an utterer such as a fellow passenger are extracted, an abstract route guidance expression is interpreted and concretized, and a presentation content corresponding to the concretized route guidance expression is outputted, thereby making it possible for the driver to intuitively understand the content, and to prevent the driver from hearing wrong and from driving in an utterer's unintended direction.
