PURPOSE: A UI(User Interface) manipulating method using motion recognition and a multimedia device using the same are provided to increase user convenience by controlling the execution of an application and screen switch according to the movement of an external object. CONSTITUTION: A motion sensor(10) obtains data about the movement of an external sensor and a signal processing unit(20) processes the data as recognizable data. A display unit(50) displays a screen playing content and supplies a selection interface about an application. A control unit(30) controls the execution of the application and the screen switch of the display unit according to the processed data.
