<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lateral stripe type fuel cell structure, in which a support substrate is difficult to deform when the support substrate receives external force, and which has high power generation output, and in which generations of cracks around a fuel electrode are suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of power generation element parts A electrically connected in series with one another are arranged at predetermined intervals on a main surface of a planar support substrate 10 in which a fuel gas passage 11 is formed. On the main surface of the support substrate 10, a plurality of recesses 12 defined by a side wall and a bottom wall closed in a circumferential direction, are formed at positions corresponding to each of the power generation element parts A, respectively. A corresponding fuel electrode collector part 21 of the power generation element part A is embedded in each recess 12. Recesses 21a defined by a side wall and a bottom wall closed in a circumferential direction, are formed on an outside surface of each fuel electrode collector parts 21.
