<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lateral stripe type fuel cell structure, in which a support substrate is difficult to deform when the support substrate receives external force, and which can suppress a decline in power generation output resulting from a short circuit of the current between adjacent inner electrodes. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of power generation element parts A electrically connected in series with one another are arranged at predetermined intervals in a longer direction on a main surface of a planar support substrate 10 which has the longer direction and in which a fuel gas passage 11 is formed. On the main surface of the support substrate 10, a plurality of recesses 12 are formed at predetermined intervals in the longer direction. Each of recesses 12 is a rectangular parallelepiped recess defined by a bottom surface and four side walls closed in a circumferential direction. A corresponding fuel electrode 20 of the power generation element part A is embedded in each recess 12.
