<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide manganese oxide especially used as a reinforcing material or a strengthening material for various materials, and providing a composite material having not only excellent dispersibility but also high strength, further having high safety, concerning manganese oxide used as an additive for various materials, and to provide a method for producing the manganese oxide. <P>SOLUTION: This manganate has a layered crystal structure and a columnar particle shape. The crystal structure of the manganate is preferably one kind or more selected from a group comprising α-NaMnO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>, Birnessite type structure and β-NaMnO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>, and further preferably has an average major axis of ≥5 to ≤75 μm and an average minor axis of ≥1.5 to ≤10 μm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
