<p>The present invention discloses a method for an emergency alarm system capable of directing building occupants to a safe location in real time during an emergency situation. The method comprises a plurality of functionalities with the aim to monitor an emergency condition, to evaluate the data collected, to calculate accessible evacuation paths, and to send results to output devices which provide information about the emergency location and directional evacuation information to occupants. By combining an analysis of the flow of evacuees and indications of presences with the evolution of an emergency state, the method combines situation-aware data with contextual information to provide the best available evacuation routes. In this manner, the method minimize problems due to congestion, potential panic of occupants, and changes in the emergency condition while increasing the probability that people will reach a safe location. Finally, the method can be activated on demand, e.g., remotely, in circumstances of dangerous environmental situations, e.g., earthquake, etc.</p> |
