A livestock barrier and control system therefor

A livestock barrier comprises a boom arm 1 having a primary arm element 21 which is driven between a closed blocking position and an open access position and a secondary arm element 22 pivotally attached to the primary arm element and adapted to rotate with the movement thereof, wherein the second arm element rotates through 180° so that the arm elements are folded together in overlying relationship in the open position and are extended in longitudinal coaxial relationship in said closed position. A drive mechanism for use with a barrier is adapted to move a primary arm element between open and closed positions about a horizontally disposed pivot axis mounted upon a support post. An excitation circuit, computer readable medium and communication device for usage within a barrier control system are also claimed.
