Apparatus and Method for Aggregating Health Management Informaton in an Aircraft

An apparatus and method for aggregating health management information from systems in an aircraft 10 which include a flight computer 22 coupled to a plurality of aircraft systems 20. Each system has a built in test (BIT) 30 protocol that self-diagnoses a health of its associated system and outputs corresponding BIT data to the flight computer via a display link 32for contemporaneous display on a flight display 24. An avionics unit 26 monitors the display link and BIT data and stores at least some of the BIT data which may be used for analysis at a remote location from the aircraft. Preferably wireless data communication is used to transfer the monitored BIT data.
