Separating an aqueous substrate into a concentrate and filtrate in a biogas plant (1), comprises filtering a liquid to be filtered from the substrate in a filter (7) having a substrate side (9) and a filtrate side (10), where filtering is carried out from the substrate side in the filtrate side. The pressure on the filtrate side is varied up to pressure equalization between the substrate- and the filtrate side. An independent claim is also included for a biogas plant for carrying out above mentioned method, comprising at least one biogas reactor (2), which comprises a filter, where a substrate line is arranged between the biogas reactor and filter, and a concentrate line is arranged between the filter and biogas reactor.
