A flexible tension member, particularly for operating an internal shoe drum brake, comprises a flat flexible strip 19 which passes through a curved channel 22, 23 of rectangular cross-section, needle bearing rollers 33 being located between the strip and the wall of the channel on the inside of the curve. The rollers 33 are arranged in slots in a cage 34, preferably of nylon. An end cover 35 encloses felt pads 36, 37 which serve to wipe off foreign matter which may collect on the exposed part of the strip 19, and to retain lubricant in the channel.
