[Also in Division B8] A lining of polyethylene, or polypropylene, is applied to a web of cardboard by extruding the lining from a die 20 on to a water-chilled casting roller 18 and passing the cardboard and lining between rollers 17, 18. The roller 17 may be recessed on its periphery so that it does not contact portions of the lining extending over openings in the cardboard web. A roller 22 ensures that the lining remains in contact with the chilled roller until cooling is effected. Draw rolls 23, 24 are provided. |
