An authorisation system 101 receives a communication from a merchant 103 comprising information identifying a user and purchase information 203. The authorisation system verifies the identity of the merchant and sends a request to a user device (e.g. mobile device) 102 for approval of the purchase 206. Upon receiving approval from the user device, the authorisation system verifies the identity of the user and then confirms the purchase transaction 208, 209. The user device sends security information to the authorisation system when approving the transaction, the information comprising an identifier of the users device (e.g. hardware/software identifier) and an identifier of the user (e.g. PIN code). The security information is inserted into a packet header for communication to the authorisation system. The authorisation system may use location information of the parties involved to detect fraudulent activity. Loyalty points may be added to the users loyalty account with the merchant. |
