<p>An optical component 10 for a display apparatus has an optical waveguide 11, an input part 13, such as a prism with a reflective coating 12 to receive and direct light into the optical waveguide 11 and an output part 17 such as a prism 17 with reflective coating 18 and having a partially transmissive angularly reflective optical coating 19, 25 on a surface part of the optical waveguide 11. The output part 17 is optically coupled to the input part 13 by the optical waveguide 11. The optical coating 19, 25 extends along a dimension of the optical waveguide 11 to expand the guided light in said dimension along the output part 17 by repeated partial transmission for output.</p> |
