A probe (202) for use in a sensor assembly (110) includes a sensing element body (300) and a sensing element (206) coupled to the sensing element body. The sensing element is at least partially capacitively coupled to a signal processing device (200). The sensing element generates an electromagnetic field (224) when at least one signal is received, and a loading is induced to the sensing element when an object is positioned within the electromagnetic field.
