Hardener comprises at least one amine with at least one amino group (I). Hardener comprises at least one amine with at least one amino group of formula (-NH-CH(R)-X) (I). R : H or 1-12C-alkyl; X : 2-pyridyl, 3-pyridyl or 4-pyridyl (all substituted by R1); and R1 : H, 1-12C-alkyl or 1-12C-alkoxy. Independent claims are included for: (1) preparing the hardener comprising reductive alkylation of at least one primary amine having at least one carbonyl compound of formula (R-C(=O)-X) (III); and (2) a composition comprising at least one epoxide resin and the hardener.
