MACHINE AND METHOD FOR MODIFYING, EXTRACTING AND DISPLAYING CAD DRAWING BLOCK ATTRIBUTES IN AN INTUITIVE WORKFLOW

The invention provides a modular system including a file browser embodiment (Xplorer (tm)) for the AutoCAD computer user or other computer user which extracts and displays important non-graphical drawing Attribute information from groups of CAD files in an adaptable file browser view based upon the Blocks and Attributes of those files along with user-defined subsets of those Blocks and Attributes. The attribute modifier embodiment (Revixit (tm)) provides a computer based interlace system which manipulates these Attribute values singly or in groups within Blocks on or related to single or multiple *.dwg drawing files without opening an AutoCAD and presents, uses and stores the results. The Attribute extractor embodiment provides a computer based interface system which extracts Attribute values from Blocks within groups of *.dwg drawing files, displays them for processing and places them for storage in an *.xls spreadsheet file or other database. The Attribute extractor includes support for Dynamic blocks and also extracts the visibility state of the specific block.
