<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition with an improved hiding property and reduced coarse particles. <P>SOLUTION: A process includes (a) a step of forming a mixture by contacting a water dispersion material of TiO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>slurry containing an adsorptive dispersant with an adsorptive latex which contains a structural unit of itaconic acid or a salt thereof, wherein the pH of the mixture of the TiO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>slurry and the adsorptive latex is sufficiently high to control the interaction between the TiO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>and the adsorptive dispersant, and (b) a step of forming a composite by sufficiently lowering the pH of the mixture of (a) to promote the interaction of the TiO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>and the adsorptive latex. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
