<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To arbitrarily move, at high speed, an enlarged map which is displayed as a slave screen in a wide-area map screen. <P>SOLUTION: A navigation system comprises map display means, speed calculation means, enlarged map creation means, and selection means. The map display means displays a wide-area map screen indicating a wide-area map and displays an enlarged map screen indicating a partially enlarged map which is obtained by enlarging a partial area of the wide-area map, while superimposing it on the wide-area map screen at a display position of the partial area. The speed calculation means calculates a speed relating to movement of the enlarged map screen. The enlarged map creation means creates an enlarged map by enlarging a predetermined area including the partial area in the wide-area map based on vector data of a detailed map resulting from enlarging the wide-area map. If the speed relating to the movement is equal to or higher than a reference speed, the selection means selects the partial area of the wide-area map as a partially enlarged map and if the speed relating to the movement is lower than the reference speed, the selection means selects an area, in the enlarged map, corresponding to the partial area as a partially enlarged map. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
