<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the yield of monosaccharides by removing lignin, and to convert biomass into monosaccharides without deteriorating a solid acid catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for reducing the saccharide contents of biomass includes a lignin-degrading apparatus 1 for degrading the lignin contained in cellulose-based biomass by using ammonia and a pressurized hot water, an ammonia feeder 3 for feeding ammonia to the lignin-degrading apparatus 1, a recovering unit 3 for recovering the ammonia and lignin-degraded products in the lignin-degrading apparatus 1, an enzymically degrading apparatus 4 for degrading the residue in the lignin-degrading apparatus 1 by using an enzyme, and a solid acid-catalytically degrading apparatus 5 for degrading the degraded product in the enzymically degrading apparatus 4 by using a solid acid catalyst. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
