PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select transgenic maize by a relatively simple method when a mutant type ALS gene is used in maize transformation.

SOLUTION: In the method for producing transgenic maize by transduction to host maize using an expression vector containing an endogenous gene of transduction target and a mutant type acetolactate synthase (ALS) gene being a selective marker gene, the method for producing transgenic maize includes a step of detecting a polynucleotide containing a base sequence of sequence number 1 and a step in which an existing individual containing the polynucleotide is determined as transgenic maize.
