<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-reading device, an image forming apparatus, and an image process program, which shorten a period from starting document-reading to completing image-processing compared to the case of performing image-processing after detecting a document size. <P>SOLUTION: On an image-reading device 10, when a document G is placed on a document platen 30, a document width detection part 52 detects a document width before reading the document, and a document size estimation part 76 estimates a document size on the basis of the document width. After the document G reading is started, an image process part 72 starts image-processing of the read data on the basis of the estimated document size. Parallel with the image-processing, the read data is accumulated in a storage part 78. Thereafter, a document length detection part 54 detects a document length and detects an actual document size.
