<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device 1 enabling compatibility of attaining longer life of a motor for contacting and separating a secondary transfer roller, and preventing damage to an intermediate transfer belt due to the pressure of the secondary transfer roller. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming device 1 comprises: time measuring means 404 for measuring a period of next print start time from the last print completion time until next print start time; time determining means 408 for determining whether the period of next print start time is shorter or longer than the roller separation time, comparing the period of next print start time with the roller separation time; and time changing means 410 for changing the roller separation time to be longer when the period of next print start time is shorter than the roller separation time, and changing the roller separation time to be shorter when the period of next print start time is longer than the roller separation time, as a result of the determination. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
