<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a specific area sound reproduction device and a filter coefficient generation device featuring heightened listening area setting accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: In a filter coefficient generation device of the present invention, assuming that the complex matrix of a transfer function is G, that the complex matrix of a filter coefficient is H, and that a complex matrix having complex amplitudes of attenuation control points as its constituents is W, a linear equation GH=W is solved with respect to the complex matrix H to find a filter coefficient. If a total number of speakers N and a total number of the attenuation control points M have the relationship M=N, H=G<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>W is assumed, if M>N, H=(G<SP POS="POST">+</SP>G)<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>G<SP POS="POST">+</SP>W is assumed, or if M<N, H=G<SP POS="POST">+</SP>(GG<SP POS="POST">+</SP>)<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>W is assumed (where, G<SP POS="POST">+</SP>is a complex conjugate transposition matrix of G) in the above calculation. Also, a specific area sound reproduction device of the present invention includes a plurality of speakers and a signal supply unit which generates supply signals for each speaker.
