<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holding device and a robot capable of surely holding an object in a stable state. <P>SOLUTION: The holding device 1 includes a pair of claws 10a, 10b which are brought into contact with the object 50 in at least three portions, and a pair of fingers 30a, 30b which support each of the pair of claws 10a, 10b and impart a holding force to the object 50 via the claws 10a and 10b.
