<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress fluctuation in image density in a main scanning direction, even when a laser spot shape is fluctuated depending on scanning positions. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a CPU 52 configured to generate a correction filter for correcting an exposure amount for a noticing pixel on the basis of the exposure amount for each of peripheral pixels lying in the vicinity of the noticing pixel of input image data; an image signal generation portion 53 configured to correct the exposure amount for the noticing pixel using the correction filter generated by the CPU 52; and an optical unit 28 configured to scan the charged photoreceptor drum 21 with laser beams in the main scanning direction by the exposure amount corrected by the image signal generation portion 53 and form an electrostatic latent image.
