<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorption member that stably performs bellows deformation and has high energy absorption efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: This shock absorption member 1 is a cylindrical shock absorption member that, upon reception of an axial compressive load, absorbs impact energy by plastically deforming in a bellows form. The shock absorption member is formed of a steel plate of a tensile strength of 590 MPa or more, and has a cross-sectional shape orthogonal to the axial direction is a closed cross section having a substantially cross shape having 12 apexes, an angle α formed by straight lines that connect the apexes of both ends of the oblique side of an octagon formed by interconnecting, with straight lines, eight apexes of the 12 apexes and an apex between them is set to 120°≤α≤150°, the aspect ratio of the cross-sectional shape is set to 1:1 to 2:1, and the ratio between the length of the longer one of the longitudinal side and lateral side of the octagon and the length of the oblique side is set to 1:1 to 1.5:1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
