<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive with a larger stable control range capable of being applied to various types of motors. <P>SOLUTION: The motor drive includes: a current detection section 7 that detects a current flowing through a brushless DC motor 4; and an energization angle changing section 8 that, when a change of current value is detected by the current detection section 7 at a period different from the drive speed of the brushless DC motor 4, changes the energization angle in a range of 120 degrees or more and less than 180 degrees. By outputting a signal having a second waveform which has a predetermined relation with the phase of the current detected by the current detection section 7 and which is a waveform of the energization angle determined by the energization angle changing section 8 at a frequency set by a frequency setting section 9, the energization angle is changed to an energization angle with which stable controlling is achieved based on the state of the current. Accordingly, the controllable range can be expanded based on the correction of phase difference between the current and the applied voltage.
