<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform optimum stereoscopic display in which cross-talk is suppressed, according to a liquid crystal response time, which changes according to a factor such as a panel temperature, in a spectacle system image display device used for stereoscopic display. <P>SOLUTION: Image data transmitted to a liquid crystal panel 37 is compressed and encoded by an image encoding circuit 16, and it is decoded by an image decoding circuit 35. Thereby the transfer rate of image data is increased and the scanning period of a display panel is shortened.
